At Total Tutoring, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel confident, capable and excited about learning.

Founded in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in 2016 by two passionate teachers, Total Tutoring has spent over a decade helping hundreds of children build the knowledge, skills and self-belief they need to thrive. From those first steps in primary school to the challenges of GCSEs and A-levels, we're here to help children discover that, with the right support, they can achieve more than they ever imagined.

We know that no two children learn in quite the same way. That's why we don't believe in one-size-fits-all tuition.

​

Our carefully selected, experienced and DBS-checked teachers are trusted to do what they do best: teach. Rather than following rigid formulas, they use their professional expertise to understand each child's individual needs, adapt their approach and make learning meaningful.

​

We offer individual and small-group tuition for children from Year 1 through to GCSE and A-level, including specialist preparation for the Buckinghamshire 11+. Our small groups are limited to just four pupils, ensuring every child receives the attention, encouragement and support they deserve.

​

Alongside our tutoring team, our carefully selected, DBS-checked Study Coaches help pupils strengthen their understanding, develop motivation and build the confidence and independence to take greater ownership of their learning.

More than just better grades

 

Of course, academic progress matters. But to us, success is about so much more than test results. 

​

It's the child who once dreaded reading discovering a book they can't put down. The pupil who was frightened of maths suddenly realising, "I can do this!" Or the quiet learner who begins putting their hand up in class because they're no longer afraid of getting something wrong.​

​We celebrate every achievement, however big or small, because we know that confidence, curiosity and resilience can transform a child's experience of education.

Our aim isn't simply to help children succeed in their next test. It's to give them the foundations and self-belief to become confident, curious and independent learners for life.

As parents ourselves, we understand how challenging it can be to balance family life, school expectations and the desire to give your child every opportunity. We want parents to feel reassured, informed and confident in the support their child receives.

That's why, alongside our tuition, we offer free webinars to help families navigate the Buckinghamshire 11+ process, understand what to expect and feel better equipped to support their children.

​

We believe that good advice and clear information should be accessible to everyone.

Our story: founded by teachers,

inspired by family

 

Total Tutoring began with a very personal experience.

​

When founder Vicky, herself an experienced teacher and mum of four, began searching for an 11+ tutor for her son, she discovered how difficult it could be for parents to judge the quality of tuition available.

​

She wanted to create something different: a tutoring service where parents could trust the quality of teaching, where experienced teachers had the freedom to respond to each child's needs, and where children were encouraged to grow in confidence as well as ability.

​

Together with fellow teacher Dominic, she founded Total Tutoring in 2016, building a business around those values. Although Dominic left the business after some time due to relocation, in a fitting full-circle moment for Total Tutoring's 10th anniversary in 2026, Dominic has now returned to teach with the company as an independent online tutor.

​

Some of our earliest pupils are now adults, studying at university, beginning careers and making their own way in the world. We're immensely proud of their achievements, just as we're proud of every child who has overcome a challenge, discovered a new passion or taken another step forward.

Because at Total Tutoring, we don't just teach children what they need to know. We help them discover what they're capable of.
